Well, it's been a busy couple of months with my de-stash sale and cyber Monday, and I am just now taking stock. The biggest new addition is the bi-colour tourmaline that took so long to get listed. Normally I'd sell this sort of thing in lots, but I know that customers really want to pick and choose, and so I did them all separately, hundreds and hundreds of stones, all priced according to how good the colour and quality is.

This month we have also gone live with our new trackable postal system, see below for more details. I've been searching for a while for an improved service and I'm really pleased to now have this in place.

I also have to announce some rather sad news. Unfortunately, after a year of operations, we are having to close the USA office. We send out a huge apology and massive thanks to all of our customers who have supported us in the USA. Along with the inconvenience for all of our customers, it's really disappointing for myself and Antonia, who has done an amazing job over the past year; however, we just don't have the volume of sales to be able to keep the office open. The good news is that the Hong Kong office is still shipping worldwide and even better news; we have a new shipping system from Hong Kong which is going to provide a faster service with customer tracking. Best of all is that it is going to be cheaper, with rates starting from $4.50 to the USA.

This month's offer is a scratch-card offer - we have discounts up to 15% available, so why not have a go and see!

New Postal Service

We now have a new posting service. It is still via Hong Kong post, but it is fully trackable and can be insured on request. At present it is only available to certain countries, however, I am anticipating that it will be extended to other countries in due course. Even better, this service is cheaper than the previous, registered post option, starting from $4.50 to the USA and $5.50 to Europe. Plus delivery times are going to be slightly improved as well. I'm really happy about this as it's been awful not being able to provide customers with at least basic tracking. At present it serves:

  • USA
  • United Kingdom
  • Canada
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • France
  • Germany
  • Switzerland
  • Netherlands
  • Spain
  • Denmark
  • Sweden
  • Norway
  • Russian Federation
  • Israel
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Japan

As announced in our special notice, we have hundreds of gorgeous bi- and parti-coloured stones available. Stones are priced according to how good the colour and quality is, and alongside the brights, we also have some more muted colours at really bargain prices.

Which Blue Are You?

Zircon, tanzanite and turquoise; which is your pick? We have a cornucopia of gorgeous stones for December babies. Zircon with its amazing brilliance and fire, tanzanite with its amazing celestial violet-blue tones or sophisticated turquoise; all look as amazing with cool, wintry white metals as they do with gold.

Also seen this month...

The Jewelry Editor has an article on rhodolite garnets, which I was interested to read. I love this sometimes rather overlooked stone, which with its dusky pink tones occupies a special place in my heart. I really think they are beautiful in their own right, and as a stone that is not routinely treated, garnet is always a good option for people who like their stones au naturel. They also have a piece on 'quirky cufflinks' - as its Christmas this is often a good standby for the men in our lives. I don't know about you but I never know what to buy mine! I particularly love the 'Toucano' cufflinks (right) by Vhernier. Finally, I often get asked about reasonably priced sapphire, and my response is usually suspicious: if it's cheap, it's probably diffusion treated. If you don't know what that means, Gem Guide's 'Beryllium and Beefsteak' piece embraces both lay and scientific explanations and is rather good.

Closure of USA office

The USA office will be closing on Friday 12th January 2018. Orders will be taken up until 5.30 pm EST on this day and dispatched. After this all new orders will need to go through the Hong Kong office. We apologise to all of our customers in the USA; however the Hong Kong office is still shipping worldwide and with a new and improved postal system we hope it won't be too much of an inconvenience. Both the joopygemsusa.com website and the JoopyGemsAmerica Etsy shop will be closing.

*Offer ends midnight Friday 12th January 2017 EST.
